After finishing a degree in English at Swarthmore College, Kevin moved home to pursue writing fiction. He explored cooking and wine, influenced by the literature he studied, and took a job in a wine shop to support his writerly pursuits. But his focus quickly shifted from literature to libations, from text to terroir. Kevin accepted a position as National Sales Director at Skurnik Wines where he educated a generation of wine professionals through seminars at Aspen Food & Wine, TEXSOM, Atlanta Food & Wine, Charleston Wine+Food, among others. He started Schatzi Wines in 2014, a new kind of Import Company. In addition to Schatzi Wines, Kevin is also building Branchwater Farms, an artisanal cider house and distillery based in the Hudson Valley.
