LIOCO is the result of a years-long conversation between Matt Licklider (a former wine import salesman) and Kevin O’Connor (former sommelier at Spago-Beverly Hills) about whether California could produce a true “wine of place.” The two, who do not own any of their own vineyards, source fruit from growers with “extreme” vineyard sites in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Sonoma, and Mendocino.  The wines favor balance over power, freshness over ripeness, surprise over familiarity.  This approach has earned LIOCO status on some of the most coveted winelists in the world.
